Ornithine Cycle/Urea Cycle

Ammonia is toxic and needs to be eliminated from the body:

In our body, ammonia is produced by the breakdown of amino acids. Bacteria present in our gut also produce ammonia. Too much ammonia in the blood can be toxic. Briefly, the urea cycle removes ammonia from the blood, and urea produced in this cycle gets excreted in the urine. The urea cycle occurs in the hepatocytes of the liver.
